This course is run at our Training Centre in Montrose which has been equipped with a fully functional subsea controls’ suite, with an HPU, Pod, Driller’s Panel and Umbilical Reel to actuate a double ram Blow Out Preventer. We also have a fully functional Axon-Koomey Type 80 surface BOP Control HPU and Toolpusher’s Panel, actuating a single ram Blow Out Preventer.

Outcome
On this course, candidates will:
Learn the complete configuration of Subsea and/or Surface BOP control equipment, component by component, on (new and aged) rig equipment.
How to test BOP functions, including: pushbuttons on a Driller’s Panel, HPU, umbilical reel, control pod, shuttle valves and BOP rams.
Learn the workings of components at every stage – what they are, how they are used and how they should be disassembled, rebuilt and tested.
Practise disassembling, rebuilding and testing components, learning every step of the way what to look for, what to use and how best to prepare it for reliable service.

Recommendation is every 3 years to remain up to date with current legislation.
The course consists of both practical and theory based elements, delegates will be assessed by observation checklists and a written test paper at the end of the training. An overall pass rate of 80% is required and after successful course completion students will receive a Mesh Global certificate of attendance.
